Committees
Nominating Committee
- Members of this committee are elected annually to serve a one year term.
- The nominating committee shall prepare a slate of candidates for each of the officers and elected committee positions.
Finance Committee
Identify and recommend strategies to ensure adequate income.
Develop and submit an annual budget for approval by the Executive Board.
Provide guidance to the Executive Board and the chapter on investments and other financial matters.
Conduct annual reviews and/or audits to ensure compliance with established policies and present the findings to the Executive Board.
Membership Committee
Develop and implement strategies to recruit, retain, and strengthen chapter membership.
Review and maintain accurate and up-to-date membership rosters.
Bylaws Committee
Periodically review the Bylaws and provide members with notice of any proposed amendments at least thirty (30) days prior to the meeting at which they will be considered.
Prepare proposed amendments for presentation to the membership.
Conduct a comprehensive review of the chapter Bylaws every five (5) years and recommend revisions as necessary.
Program Committee
Provide recommendations to the Executive Board regarding initiatives that impact nurses locally and the health of underserved communities.
Collaborate with members, community groups, and educational institutions to increase recruitment, retention, and successful completion rates of minority students in nursing programs.
Support minority nursing students by developing and promoting strategies, such as mentoring programs, to facilitate successful program completion.
Health Policy Committee
Initiate and advocate for health and nursing legislation that advances the interests of underrepresented communities.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and organizations to disseminate information regarding national and regional legislative issues.
Scholarship & Awards Committee
Establish and communicate eligibility criteria for candidates recommended for NBNA and chapter scholarships and awards.
Review applications and prepare all required scholarship and award materials for submission to the Executive Board.
Announce scholarship and award recipients.
Publicity and Public Relations Committee
Oversee and maintain the chapter’s social media presence and support promotion of chapter and committee activities through appropriate mass communication platforms.
Establish and coordinate a Speakers Bureau to support the chapter’s outreach and engagement efforts.
